The Mount Rushmore Memorial Site is located on top of the Black Hills of South Dakota, a little more than 20 miles away from Rapid City. The monument as shrine of democracy in the United States of America, is a memorial to honor the country birth and values. The symbolic epic sculpture portrait the faces of four of the considered greatness United States leaders of all times.
Mount Rushmore Memorial Site was the idea of the artist John Gutzon Borglum in 1927, to celebrated the 150 anniversary of declaration of independence of United States; each work is 60 foot tall busts, required some 400 workers to be erected and the project lasted about 14 years to be completed. From left to right the memorial represent the busts of Presidents George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln. Rushmore memorial monument is considered a historic landmark in north America.
